Knits for others

I hope everyone had lovely holidays! Mine were relaxing and definitely not long enough. I made a few presents, socks for my boyfriend which you'll see in another post (of course they're in Lana Grossa, what else?), jewelry and cards. I forgot to take a picture of the cards, but here are the two gift knits I managed to do:
VintageSocks
A pair of 2x2 rib socks in the lovely 'vintage' colorway from Yarntini, knit on US 2's. The tablecloth my feet are resting on inspired this colorway, I wanted something cute and stripey, but lacked the energy to take up dyeing as yet another hobby. But there are fabulous people on the internet who help make your ideas come true, and soon enough I had a skein of sockyarn in my hands that I didn't want to unwind, it was so pretty. Initially I meant to make socks for myself, but a sweet girl at work was going through some rough times, and since she had admired the colors when I was knitting during lunch, I decided to gift them to her. Good thing she has the same shoe size.
I also made a simple garter stitch scarf for my niece with one skein of Malabrigo.
MalabrigoScarf
My hands start to twitch whenever I think of its softness. I definitely see a Malabrigo sweater or cardi in my future. Maybe a Malabrigo blanket, or wait, even better, a sleeping bag...or a head to toe body suit! Ahhhh, soooft.

It's so cool that you were able to get a colorway to match your tablecloth! It's a gorgeous combo, and knit into fab socks!

glad you had a nice holiday! I, too, wish they could have been longer. Love the socks and scarf. And great photos!

i'm loving the stripes and colours on those socks! they are way too cute.

maybe you can just use malabrigo skeins instead of blankets....and crawl under a whole pile of malabrigo every night.

The socks and the scarf look really, really lovely, Steph!! Malabrigo is definitely a favourite of mine too, SO soft!

PS. Thank you very much on the sewing book recommendation! Photos and step-by-step instructions are definitely good in my books.

malabrigo even makes garter, along with everything else, look irrestible. I ove the subtle change in weight - it makes every fabric so interesting. Great color choice too - its beautiful.

Thanks for sharing!

I LOVE those socks. (Thanks for the tip on the sock yarn.)

I am in awe that you had the will power to give those away. You have inspired me to become a better knit-giver.

I've never used Malabrigo before, but seeing your scarf and the lovely slight variances and reading all the comments makes me feel like I must get some now. Love your tablecloth socks too!

Dana

Those are such cheery socks, just what you need in winter. Lovely. Just lovely. Do you think we can sway her to make this colourway commercially?

I really like your site! I also really like the
Brigette Leaf Pattern. I don't speak German, but I've tried to email them. Is there any way that you can share that pattern? Or it's location? The way you have styled the scarf with your pin is lovely!
Thank you - bjohn
