Kiri

Kiri3
I finished this shawl over a week ago after almost two weeks of intense knitting. Kid Silk Haze is lovely and works so well with my cheapy Phildar needles, but the pattern rows grow mindnumbingly looong towards the end. I was getting bored fast, hence the (for me) quick turn-around.
When I blocked it, the points on the left side refused to get as pointy as the ones on the right, and I have no idea why. The cast off turned out loose enough with US8's. It's not really bothering me though, I'm happy with it.
Kiri2
Pattern: Kiri, available for free here
Yarn: 2.5 balls of Rowan Kid Silk Haze in 'bleached' (discontinued color)
Needles: US6 for the shawl, US8's for binding off
No changes, no problems, ahhhh.
I never thought I'd jump on the shawl bandwagon, but after Kiri I'm craving more, something open and crisp and possibly black.

beautiful! I'm not usually a fan of triangular shawls, preferring instead rectangular stoles, but I might convert after seeing such lovely results.

Very preeeeetty! I'm starting to feel that mind numbing action with my mom's shawl. I'm only on the 5th repeat and I have LOT more to do. The Diamond Fantasy shawl in black could be your next shawl.

Oooo! I love that its white. Very chic! I have had some dark brown KSH and the Kiri pattern sitting in my knititng basket for well over a year. I need to get it started.

so pretty steph! what shawl are you thinking of next?

Oh, so gorgeous! And so hip in the pale color with the jeans and the blues in the background. Definitely not your granny's shawl.

I love the colors in your photoshoot! I did Kiri as a neck scarf in alpaca laceweight and I too found it to be dull near the end.

So far, my favourite shawl to knit has been Frost Flowers and Leaves from Gathering of Lace. It was easy to memorize, yet had lots of interesting bits. I wear it a lot and always get a ton of compliments. A phot is available on flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/16147043@N00/166818923/).

Oh that's just gorgeous! I love the way it looks in that color, and the way it looks against the blue in your photos! Enjoy!

Gorgeous Kiri shawl! And great photoshoot to show it off -- you look all art-directed and cool in with the blues and the graf for background with your stunning white shawl. Great work!

Your Kiri's beautiful. The white was a good yarn color choice. I'm working on one myself, in a mint shade of green. Hopefully I'll have the motivation to finish her. I've already been sidetracked by spinning and a new pair of socks!

so inspiring- I knit too- but wonder how you all manage to get that much done in so short time... nice that the pattern is for free- it makes me think that I someday will knit one by myself- and it's always nice to view your blog..

That is gorgeous! I hear you about the long rows; that is absolutely my least favorite part about lace knitting. I am well into my second lace shawl and quite addicted!

Beautiful! Love the first photo styling - brings out the rugged side to the feminine Kiri. I;m swatching for a shawl with my black misti alpaca right now, but just can't decide which lace to knit!

Suzi

Oh, that's pretty. I'm not much of a shawl person, myself, but I can see how knitting that might get addictive. Great work!

Gorgeous! i'm impressed at your abilities with KSH - I can't knit with the stuff to save my life.

Dana

You are extraordinarily talented and I'm so glad I googled "amy butler weekender" yesterday and found this site. I sent the Husband here to check out the bag and he said, "She's gonna get run over by a train!"

I'll be a frequent reader. Please keep up the fine art crafting.

Your scarf is so very pretty. The very bright and sunny picture makes me wonder why you would need a warming mohair scarf after all ;-) Great picture, at first glimpse I thought you did a full dressed dive into a swimming pool!

I found my way to you through Wicked Stitches. I gazed at your Kiri and then browsed your Gallery. I love your work. You're a great knitter -- and damn productive, too! Amazing.

Gorgeous! Great job! Triangular shawls are so appealing to knit but I'm not sure I could pull one off to wear... You look fantastic with yours and it's making me reconsider.
