Hoppelpoppel Socks

As leftovers of sockyarn were piling up, I figured I'd have enough to make a whole new pair of socks for bf out of them. They are rather ugly; yet at the same time, I love them for what they are, something useful made from leftovers, like a scrap quilt, or a rag rug. Bf loves them too, the crazier the better, he says.
Hoppelpoppel Socks
Pattern: Basic top down 2x2 rib
Needles: US 2
Yarn: mostly Lana Grossa Meilenweit leftovers

soon: sewing fo's.
btw: hoppelpoppel is a dish made from leftovers...so it can be pretty much anything.

I love love LOVE this idea! they came out great. how much do you want to bet that some yarn co is going to come up with "leftover" skeins?

I made a similar pair of socks out of my leftovers only I made smaller "stripes" - http://knittingunderway.blogspot.com/2007/10/scrappy-socks-are-here.html

Isn't it fun?

They're so cool, I'll have to keep hoppelpoppel in mind when I collect enough leftovers!

What fun! I'm impressed with the mix of matching and not matching between the feet--adds to the unexpected!

Great idea! They look fabulous.

Sulafaye,
I think my reasoning for the match and no match was that if they stuck out of his boots, they'd look like 'normal' socks...but inside the boot, craziness prevails ;-).

I think they look amazing~ I really like the crazy stripes. I recognize some of the yarns as ones that live in my stash too ;)

They are great! Now my sock leftovers would just not "go" together as well as yours have!

LOVE those socks! The colors go really well together - like they say - the whole is greater than the sum of the parts!
